Selling Internationally on Amazon

Prices, printing costs and taxes by marketplace.

October 17, 2026 · 1 min read

When you publish with KDP, your book can be sold on Amazon marketplaces around the world, not just Amazon.com. That opens your graphic novel to readers in the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan, and more. Here's what to think about.

Marketplace availability, printing locations, and tax rules change — check KDP's current guidance.

Set prices per marketplace

KDP lets you set a list price for each marketplace, or base them on your US price automatically. Automatic conversion can produce odd prices — $9.99 might become an awkward number in another currency. Consider rounding to prices that look natural to local readers.

Printing costs differ by marketplace

Print books are printed in or near the region where they're sold, and printing costs differ from marketplace to marketplace. A price that earns a good royalty in one marketplace might earn less in another, so check each one in KDP's pricing page.

Taxes

In some regions, prices shown to readers include taxes such as VAT. That affects what you earn from a given list price. KDP explains how this works for each marketplace.

Describe your book for every reader

  • Use clear, simple English in your description; many international readers read English as a second language.
  • Avoid references that only make sense in one country.
  • If your book is good for English learners — graphic novels often are — say so.

Reviews and rankings are separate

Each Amazon marketplace has its own rankings, and reviews may or may not carry across. Don't be discouraged if your book is quiet in one country and busy in another.

Marketing abroad

Your social media and newsletter already reach people everywhere. Mention that the book is available on their local Amazon, and use links that work internationally where possible.

Beyond Amazon

For bookstores and libraries in other countries, wider distribution helps — see distribution beyond Amazon. For selling translation rights to foreign publishers, see foreign rights and translations.
